Kobi Samboursky says Israeli Venture Capital firms should focus on Value Creation – CTech Roadshow 2021
Kobi Samboursky, Glilot’s Co-Founder and Managing Partner, was featured in CTech by Calcalist Roadshow 2021 along with other Israeli Venture Capital firms and shared his key insights about the challenges the Israeli ecosystem faces nowadays and how VCs should focus on creating value for the companies.
“I’ve been an entrepreneur and a VC now for many years, and it’s definitely the best time ever to be in this business and definitely the best time to be an entrepreneur. We see a boom in the industry like never before in terms of the speed of investment of money, but most importantly, the number of companies that have a chance to become big and make an impact. We saw it last year with 10 Israeli IPOs, and the numbers will continue to rise. So I think we are in a perfect place in terms of the local ecosystem, which is booming, and it’s super exciting. It’s the best time ever to be in this business.”
Kobi also emphasized the vital role of Glilot’s Value Creation team – “I think that the role of the VCs has changed over the Years. Ten years ago, it used to be just about picking the best companies and making the right bets. But what we’ve seen in the last years is that more and more VCs understand that they also need to think operationally and how they would be able to help companies in their journey. We at Glilot have been innovators in this space starting ten years ago, focusing on pushing companies to the market quickly and helping them with their Go-To-Market and Product-Market-Fit. Recently we’ve also added HR capabilities helping to recruit key personnel.”
At CTech Roadshow 2021 event – Calcalist in collaboration with Poalim Hi-Tech, invited startup companies in pre-seed and Seed stages to apply and take part in a unique Roadshow and participate in a 1: 1 meeting with Israeli Venture Capital firms. The event brought together dozens of startups who pitched their venture to more than 20 leading Israeli investment groups and investors.
